With Kamen Rider OOO ending two weeks ago, let’s take a look at the last figure in the OCC line – the dinosaur combo, PuToTyra Combo!
*Let me say this to start… I’m too lazy to type out too many things for a pretty repetitive review. >< Also, I didn’t paint this figure like I did with the previous OCC figures.
Packaging: The box is slightly bigger both in length and width compared to the other OCC figure boxes. I honestly don’t see why they had to made the length longer though. I wish they could have spent less on cardboard and plastic and gave us more white paint.
Figure: Well, this isn’t a Figuarts, so it won’t be as detailed as one. For starters, the white paint department seemed to have ran out of paint that day. Loads of white portions are left completely unpainted. With so much purple and few colour contrasts, this is actually quite an eye-sore to look at. Articulation on this figure is even more limited as compared to other OCC figures due to the sculpt of the figure. However, the mould of the figure is relatively detailed. If you got paint and time, you could easily make this look like a Figuarts figure.
It’s also nice to have the ‘berserker’ mode included into the mould of the figure. You can ‘transform’ OOO into the ‘berseker’ mode with a few twists and turns of the thigh ‘armour’ and ‘cloak’ on its back. Articulation on the head of the ‘berserker’ mode is limited due to the way the wings were designed to clip-on onto the head.
Accessories: Well, you have the Medagabryuu thingum in both Axe and Bazooka forms. And that’s about it. It seems that they are lacking in the silver paint department as well this time a round.
===========
Overall Verdict: I guess this is a pretty fun figure to have, though I would very much prefer to get the Figuarts version of this figure. I may get my hands on one if it’s cheap… *may*. While the OCC lacks in terms of paint job and applications, it makes up for the combo-changing gimmick. I mean, have you seen Putera-Gatakiri-Ba combo, or Ra-Tricera-Tah combo, or even Taka-Tora-Tyranno combo in the show? It’s only possible with the OCC gimmick.
My copy had a problem with the ‘leg’ part of the figure. The peg that plugs in to the hole under the chest portion doesn’t seem to catch onto the chest part properly, and falls out now and then. I guess that’s just bad luck on my part.
Anyway, till the next review! It’s time to up the scales a little next time a round!
